It turns out that someone knew about the alleged Rob Ford crack-smoking video before Gawker did. The Toronto police were reportedly aware of its existence weeks prior to Gawker breaking the story and launching their "Crackstarter" campaign to purchase the video.
Authorities arrested several across the Toronto area this morning during the action phase of an anti-gun initiative known as "Project Traveller." They just so happened to show up at the Dixon Road apartments were the video was allegedly being held, as well as the home of Muhammad Khattak, who was in the photo with Ford taken outside of the crackhouse.
According to CTV, police knew about the video several weeks before the story went national:
As for Rob Ford, well, his cable is out. Getting that fixed is his priority right now.
