Yesterday, ABC News reported that George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, had filed for divorce. This morning, Shellie Zimmerman spoke with Good Morning America, calling her husband "selfish." Zimmerman, 26, said that her husband only slept at their house "three or four nights" weekly since being acquitted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on Jul. 13.
"I have a selfish husband and I think George is all about George," she revealed. "I stood by my husband through everything," she explained, adding that "[George Zimmerman] left [her] with a bunch of pieces of broken glass that I’m supposed to now assemble and make a life."
Just last week, she pleaded guilty to a charge for perjury after being accused of lying during a bail hearing following George Zimmerman's arrest last summer. She was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
Furthermore, Shellie Zimmerman told ABC that her husband has been verbally abusive towards her and characterized his recent behavior as "reckless," even going as far as to say "he feels more invincible" post-acquittal. Many would agree.
Zimmerman said she plans to seek custody of the couple's two dogs.
