MTA has gone to great lengths to vanquish rats from the New York City subway, but those little rodent bastards are persistent. The latest anti-rat initiative involves sealing the rooms used to store trash—all 347 of them. It's a wise move, as a number of those rooms have rat-friendly cracked walls and worn doors that make it easy for them to slide in and out.
The process is scheduled to begin in July, meaning the second half of the summer could be rat free (or at least rat reduced) on the NYC subway.
