The story behind the music.

Tonight, D.C.'s Howard Theatre (620 T St. NW) will screen FunkJazz Kafé: Diary of a Decade, the award-winning documentary chronicling the esteemed music festival. The Atlanta-based festival, which has been in place for nearly 20 years, is more of an out-of-body musical experience with several moving parts as opposed to your run-of-the mill show. The film was directed by FunkJazz Kafé founder and creative director Jason Orr, and features the likes of Cornell West, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Dallas Austin, Common and Chuck D.

Following the screening, there will be a Q & A session with Orr. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the screening starts at 7:30 p.m. You can still grab tickets here, and check out the trailer below to build anticipation.
