Amidst public outrage over the weekend shooting death of an unarmed teenager in Missouri, officials say the FBI will now take over the case.

According to the Associated Press, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said the FBI would now take command of an investigation into Michael Brown's death. Brown, 18, was shot several times by a police officer in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Mo. on Saturday afternoon. Local authorities allege that Brown got into a wrestling match with the cop, while witnesses claim the shooting was completely unprovoked.

The officer who killed Brown has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.
