An inebriated man was killed after falling onto a fence in California this morning, police say.
According to the Associated Press, Edwin Ochoa, 30, fell roughly 20 feet from a tree branch in West Hollywood, landing on the fence at around 3:30 a.m.
Officers with the LAPD told the Associated Press that over a dozen empty beer cans were found near the tree he fell from, and residents of the neighborhood told police that Ochoa was known for his heavy drinking.
The tragedy left LAPD Sgt. Melvin Gamble deeply disturbed. "Over the years, you see stuff like this," he told the Los Angeles Times. "You still don’t get used to it."
