Beginning Jan. 1, the Chicago Skyway fare will increase from $3.50 to $4. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, when the Skyway rate rose to $3.50 in January 2011, it became the highest toll per mile of any interstate toll system tracked by the Federal Highway Administration.
The 8-mile stretch of roadway is managed by the Skyway Concessions Company, which has a 99-year lease in the city.
