If you call any of these places home, you should be proud. CNN Money has created a list of the best big-city neighborhoods in the U.S. based on visits, conversations with residents, information from NeighborhoodScout.com and arranged in accordance to population.

The list includes Brooklyn's Park Slope, where the median household income is $101,000 which still does little to justify the average two-bedroom renting for $3,000 per month. The upsides mentioned are the plethora of historic brownstones, stellar restaurants and co-ops. An obvious negative is the fierce real estate market. It's New York—deal with it.

The rest of the top five includes L.A.'s Silverlake, Chicago's Lakeview, Houston's Houston Heights and Philly's Mount Airy. Completing the top ten are Windsor Square in Phoenix, San Antonio's Alamo Heights, San Diego's Pacific Beach, Dallas' Lakewood and Willow Glen in San Jose, Calif.
