Good ol' Adam Sandler is back at it.
We don't mean Happy Gilmore Adam Sandler, we mean the one who dresses up as Elmo and spews anti-Semitic vitriol around New York City. Sandler, 50, first got our attention last year when he was arrested in Central Park and Times Square for yelling horrible comments like “The Jews are responsible for everything that’s wrong with the world!” Now, he's back in the spotlight for trying to bleed $2 million from the Girl Scouts. Has he no shame?
The New York Post reports that five years ago, Sandler worked as a temp doing computer programming at the Girl Scouts headquarters. In one of several threatening emails, Sandler threatened to "show up at Girl Scout functions and other places that parents and kids congregate and hold signs, connecting the Girl Scouts with the Cambodian Rape Camp man."
For someone clearly out of his fucking mind, Sandler is quite self-aware. The "Cambodian Rape Camp man" remark is a reference to himself; back in 1999, he was arrested for running a live-porn website in Cambodia called Welcome to the Rape Camp.
Sandler's anger with the Girl Scouts seems to stem from an incident that happened last year. He started hitting on his former supervisor in a series of creepy emails—asking a woman "Do you think that I am a scary guy?" isn't gonna win her over. Not to mention, this was four years after his temp contract ended. This led to him sending the woman photos of himself in various stages of undress and demanding money because he was "wrongfully terminated."
He's being held on $200,000 bail, though his attorney says his obvious mental illness makes it impossible to take him seriously. Sandler will return to court Jun. 13; expect more Sandler-related news this summer.
