Authorities in California say someone snuck into a poultry shed last month and beat over 900 chickens to death using a golf club.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the suspect accessed the Foster Farms shed in Caruthers, Calif. on Sep. 20 by pulling back part of fence, brutally killing the chickens with the golf club and another tool. The Times adds that Deputy Chris Curtice of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said a piece of what police believe was the golf club was discovered at the scene of the crime.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has requested the public's assistance in identifying the suspect, while Foster Farms has offered a $5,000 reward in exchange for any information.
In a statement released in the wake of the incident, Foster Farms said that it is the company's "express policy" to treat birds "humanely and with compassion."
