Kid Cudi is living up to his Man on the Moon moniker.
On Wednesday, Disney+ released the trailer for Crater, a coming-of-age sci-fi film that follows a group of kids living on a lunar colony in 2257. Cudderâwho is credited under his legal name, Scott Mescudiâplays the father of lead character Caleb Channing, a boy who sets out to find the titular crater with his friends.
The trailer begins with Cudi speaking about the mysterious location before he encourages his son to explore it.
âYou were born here, raised here. This dome is the only world youâve ever known,â he tells Caleb while looking at a map. âThereâs a place just off past the eastern ridge, right there. Youâll see. Get out there. To the crater.â
The preview then shows Caleb and his pals preparing for the adventure, and cuts to action-packed scenes from their road trip, which includes meteor showers, rover rides, and a game of moon rock baseball.
âThe most important thing to remember: itâs not just about where youâre going, itâs about how you get there, the people you get there with,â Cudi says. âYouâre never quite the same as you were when you began.â
The PG-rated film is directed by Kyle Patrick (Easier with Practice, C.O.G., The Stanford Prison Experiment) with a script by John Griffin (The Twilight Zone). It also stars Bill Barratt, Mckenna Grace, Orson Hong, and Thomas Boyce.
On Twitter, Cudi wrote, âIm so happy and excited about this one yall.  Gettin the chance to work with such awesome people, priceless man. Also!! its me and @MckennaGraceful second movie together exactly 10 years later. âŠÂ Take it to the moon!!!â
