February 9 was a beautiful day for cinema. It was on this night that Parasite, which was directed by Bong Joon-ho and touched on class tensions, became the first foreign-language film to win Best Picture at the Oscars. It was the night that the Academy dared to be progressive by giving a film from South Korea the ceremony's top award.

Now, Donald Trump wants to throw all those good feelings away with his latest rant at a rally in Colorado Springs on Thursday.

"How bad were the Academy Awards this year?" Trump said at the rally. "And, the winner is… a movie from South Korea! What the hell was that all about? We got enough problems with South Korea with trade. On top of it, they give them best movie of the year? Was it good? I don’t know... Let’s get Gone With the Wind. Can we get like Gone With the Wind back, please? Sunset Boulevard, so many great movies."

Parasite distributor Neon caught wind of the comments and clapped back on Twitter. "Understandable, he can't read," the account wrote.

The Democratic National Committee also responded to Trump's comments.

Parasite is a foreign movie about how oblivious the ultra-rich are about the struggles of the working class, and it requires two hours of reading subtitles. Of course Trump hates it. pic.twitter.com/WOl6Zou1CG

Trump bringing up 1939's Gone With the Wind, of all movies, caused many on Twitter to go off.

Really did not see CAN'T WE GET GONE WITH THE WIND BACK coming but life is like that nowadays.
Gone with the Wind is a romanticized white wash of slavery and the antebellum South and the author Margaret Mitchell had tremendous "economic anxiety." Of course Trump would prefer it over PARASITE, a brilliant movie commenting on classism and income inequality.

"Was it good? I don’t know. Let’s get ‘Gone With the Wind.'”

This is not a comment on Parasite. It's white identity politics. It's a signal of group identity & romanticism of an entertainment age before non-whites were socially prominent/influential.https://t.co/pYcw2oSSt2
Trump literally just asked, "Can we get like 'Gone With The Wind' back please?" That's really saying the quiet part out loud isn't it.

During his rant, Trump also briefly addressed comments made by Brad Pitt during his Oscars acceptance speech about the White House blocking former national security adviser John Bolton from testifying in his impeachment trial. "He got up and said little wiseguy statements," Trump said, perVariety. "He's a little wiseguy." He also said he was "never a fan" of Pitt, but the feeling is probably mutual.
