Following breakout performances in the Jordan Peele-directed Get Out and The Carmichael Show, Lil Rel Howery is ready to take center stage in Rel, a comedy series inspired by the comedian’s real life.

In the trailer recently released by Fox, we first see Rel on the phone in a relatively empty apartment as he wonders how his wife could have an affair with his barber of all people. Living in Chicago, he’s trying to put the pieces of his life back together.

As Rel attempts to move on with his new life without anyone finding out, he quickly learns that the news of his current situation has already made its way to the local pastor. The show appears to follow Howery as he weaves through the highs and lows that come with the next chapter of his life.

The series will also star Sinbad as Rel's father. Jerrod Carmichael, the comedian, actor, and writer behind The Carmichael Show, will serve as the show’s executive producer.
