It took a year to compare reactions to breaking news from the general public with those on Twitter, but somehow Pew pulled it off. And now we know the micro-blogging platform is riddled with haters (okay, negativity), so much so that it's impossible to say Twitter users are biased against anything in particular because, well, they're biased against everything, at least when it comes to politics.
Even though they're predominantly young and left-leaning—and heartily backed Obama during the 2012 election— Pew found Twitter users are more quick to lash out, like when they hated on the president for nominating John Kerry for Secretary of State and called out his State of the Union speech in 2012.
We'll let Pew explain:

Of course, what we're seeing is only a "narrow sliver" of the actual conversation since not everyone uses Twitter—"the overall reach of Twitter is modest," says Pew—and given its lefty bias, chances are the public opinion is running in another direction entirely.
