Twitter Reacts To "The Dark Knight Rises"

The long-awaited premiere of The Dark Knight Rises over the weekend was met with both jubilation and tragedy. The movie seemed to please fans across the board, but the horrifying shooting in Aurora, Colorado will forever mar an otherwise transcendent piece of popcorn cinema. And as always, people flocked to Twitter to share their opinions of the film and the terrible events that surrounded its release.

Overall, the general public seemed to absolutely fall in love with director Christopher Nolan's third, and final, Batman epic; in fact, some have even gone as far as to claim it's the best movie ever. But there were a few dissenting opinions, especially when it came to a few very specific aspects of the movie. Here, we've collected the best tweets surrounding The Dark Knight Rises.

We just have one question: Who is Piggy?

Nolan's blockbuster may very well end up being the best mainstream studio film of 2012. But in a year with Beasts of the Southern Wild and the impending release of The Master, it will be a tough mountain to climb.

If there is a more astute comparison out there, we haven't seen it.

Very true. If The Dark Knight didn't get nominated, we can't see this one getting the nod either.

This is high praise from a man who just wrote one of the best Batman stories of all time. If Warner Bros. executives were smart, they'd be eyeing Snyder to write the inevitable reboot.

If it's good enough for Bret Easton Ellis, it's good enough for us. The man did write American Psycho and Less than Zero after all.

We're not going to lie, everyone seemed a bit out of it when they wandered out of the theater when it was all over.

Each movie absolutely nailed certain things that the others didn't. But they also each failed in ways that the others didn't.

Clearly, she's not a fan of 1997's Batman & Robin; meaning, she has common sense.

Despite how much we absolutely loved this movie, artist Joe Quinones does make a very valid point.

If there is anyone you should listen to about this movie, it’s comic book writer extraordinaire Kurt Busiek. The man knows these characters inside and out.

Well, they should be allowed to go to the movies again. But maybe force them to wear a big red "A" on their chest.

We're already predicting that this will be something that fans debate until the end of time.

This movie would have been around 20 minutes long if the Avengers took on Bane's army. Hulk > Bane, all day.

We can see this point, but we're hard-pressed to put Batman Begins above Rises.
