Mere hours before yesterday's episode of The Colbert Report was scheduled to begin, production was abruptly canceled and audiences were sent home, according to E!. As of now there is now explanation behind the cancelation, and the only thing that a Comedy Central representative told E! was "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, Feb. 16."
The show does not tape on Fridays, and as of now it's not known whether or not it will return next week either. The move didn't just come as a shock to audiences, but to the guests as well. Author Susan Cain, the scheduled guest for last night, tweeted, "Show was canceled for tonight. will resched for march…"
This is the first time that an episode of The Colbert Report has ever been canceled this suddenly. The only silver lining is that E! is also reporting that a Comedy Central source said that production will begin again "soon".
