The Avengers marks the third time that the Hulk will be seen on the big screen, and each time, the character has been based off a different actor. In 2003's Hulk, Ang Lee modeled the Green Goliath off of Eric Bana, in The Incredible Hulk it was Edward Norton, and now in Avengers, the Hulk bears a striking resemblance to Mark Ruffalo, the new Bruce Banner.
In this new image from the film, courtesy of Super Hero Hype, we get our best look at this revamped version of the Hulk yet. Industrial Light & Magic did a near-perfect job of incorporating Ruffalo's features into the character, so there will be an uncanny resemblance to Bruce Banner when he turns all mean and green during the movie's action scenes. The motion capture technology employed here is supposedly similar to Avatar and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. That means while we are seeing the Hulk on the screen, Ruffalo's performance will be the backbone of the character.
Avengers will be released on May 4.
