As we gear up for Marvel’s post-Avengers slate of movies to come out, Express has just reported that Downtown Abbey’s Jessica Brown Findlay is up for the role of Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Findlay will be competing against the likes of Emelia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Teresa Palmer (I am Number Four), Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later), and Alison Brie (Mad Men) for the role.

Carter is a staple from the comics as one of Cap’s various love interests from throughout the years. She’s also an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the niece of Peggy Carter, Captain America’s love interest from the first movie, who was played by Hayley Atwell. With Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s April 4, 2014 release date moving ever closer, we expect a final decision to be made on the casting in the coming weeks.
