Director Joe Wright’s Pan will retell the origin of Peter Pan (Levi Miller), from his orphan beginnings to his eventual rise as a hero and his early friendship with a young Captain Hook (Garrett Hedlund). With Hook starting off the movie as Peter’s friend, there obviously needs to be a villain in the film. Thankfully that’s where Hugh Jackman comes in.
In Pan, Jackman will play the pirate Blackbeard, which calls for a much more villainous look than the actor is accustomed to. And to show off his new buzzcut and stylish beard, Jackman took to Instagram to show the world: Pan will hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
