Lena Dunham was hospitalized Saturday morning for a ruptured ovarian cyst. The Girls creator and actress will undergo surgery before she leaves the hospital, a rep told TMZ.

In February Dunham took to Facebook to announce she has endometriosis, a chronic condition that affects women's reproductive help. She took time off from promoting season six of Girls, which premiered Feb. 21, because of health concerns. Typically endometriosis occurs in women in the 30s and 40s, affecting 6 to 10 percent of women of reproductive age, according to CNN. Symptoms include pain, which may become chronic, as well as bowel problems, diarrhea, and cramping. If not treated early enough it can lead to infertility. "So many women with this disease literally don't have the option of time off," Dunham wrote on Facebook, "And I won't take it for granted."

In January HBO confirmed Girls will end after its sixth season.
