The "Colbert Report" Series Finale Was the Highest Rated Episode of All-Time

Going out strong.

Stephen Colbert always loved to assert his latest episode of The Colbert Report was the best yet, but he refrained from saying so today. Despite his sudden humility, last night's episode very well have been the best yet, at least judging by ratings. The series finale was the highest-rated episode of the show's nine-year run, pulling in 2.5 million viewers.

Among adults age 18-49 the only higher rated show last night was Thursday Night Football. Last Thursday's episode drew half the viewers of the finale, with an audience of 1.2 million.

We may have misspoken by calling Colbert humble, though. Instead of calling the finale his best episode yet he went with an even bolder tweet.
