It was not a dream. An Entourage big screen adventure is still happening, and it's approaching, fast. Last December, the teaser trailer kicked things off to a promising start and now four months later here we are with new footage. So what's the point of dissecting a two minute preview of HBO's simplest show? Besides the fact that the thirst needs to be quenched somehow until June finally arrives, even the show's biggest fans must admit how iffy the prospect of going TV to film is. There are a dozen ways this movie can go wrong, and that's without even remembering that the final season was meh. But just like the (admittedly better than this) teaser, the official trailer is full of reassuring promise. Recap everything we saw in the teaser with my first Stan breakdown, then continue on to part two. Get excited: the boys are almost back.
Where did we leave off?
The teaser was a bit murky on where things stood in between the series finale—with Vince, Turtle and Drama flying off to Vince's wedding, and E flying off with Sloan—to where we are now in the movie. Now, the trailer appears to clear a few things up based on the first big scene, which shows the gang arriving to a Vinny Chase yacht party and greeting him as if it's been awhile. Clearly Alice Eve, who played Vince's hilariously underwritten fianceé, isn't in this movie. Maybe Vince was away from the guys enjoying an annulment bender?
Ari just can't quit Vince.
The biggest piece of new information that the trailer offers as opposed to the teaser: Ari has accepted the studio head job and used it to help further Vince's flourish, greenlighting Vince's directorial debut is his first fucking move. You have to appreciate that level of blind loyalty. And no Season 6, Hollywood nonchalant here. The stakes are as high as usual. Later in the trailer, Ari helpfully underlines that both his and Vince's careers are in the gutter if this movie tanks.
Vincent Chase Trash Classic™
When the teaser dropped I wondered if Vince's trash Hyde movie was meant to look as dumb and awful as it does, because the show waffles on how serious we're supposed to take dude's talent. Turtle's line in the trailer, "Does he even know how to direct?" all but confirms that the movie's self-aware that Vinny is no Jake Gyllenhaal, thank God.

...still the baddest. *Shudders*
And she's also still pregnant.
Welp, at least Eric has something to do apart from talking Vince out of bad ideas and being the bane of Ari's existence. This pretty much confirms the movie's setting as merely nine months after the series finale, unless it's a flashback or opening credits montage. But if my other assumptions are right, nine months seems the right time gap for this to be both Ari's first movie as studio head and the gang's first time back together in awhile.

And it looks like George Takei is officiating, because he too is Asian and gay, so why not? Jeez, this movie isn't hurting for a lack of subplots, huh?

What good is an Ari In The Boardroom scene without Dana checking him?
Cue the cameo roll.
The cameo roll call is kind of embarrassing—and also ruins the "Hey, it's that guy!" fun—but it's worth noting, Jessica was one of the show's very first Big Guest Stars™ (she co-starred in Vince's first big movie, Head On) way back in 2004 when a Jessica Alba cameo warranted such a descriptor. Her appearance in the film is appropriately full circle.
Andrew Dice Clay is back.
It's doubtful he'll actually do much, but in case you forgot: when the series ended Dice, after a season's worth of deliberation, came around on co-starring in Drama's animated series vehicle, Johnny's Bananas. Presumably, Johnny Drama found the success he so deserves in between series and movie?
Winklevoss is in the movie.
Gee, now it's definitely a must-see.
The humiliation Turtle will endure for a date.
Turtle subplots are at their absolute best when they involve him chasing a hot celebrity who's 18 miles out of his league. Although much of what we see here are the same gags from the teaser, this still looks pretty solid. (And more subplot action than Johnny Drama can boast. Seriously, what is fam doing in this movie besides being the butt of every joke?)
The gang takes the Globes.
This is one of the first images we see in the trailer, but based on Sloan's graciously tight-fitting dress—and the fact that the movie's arc follows Vince's latest Trash Classic™ from production to release—it would appear that the footage shot at this year's Golden Globe ceremony factors into the end of the movie, probably a nomination because of course, everything always works out.
Still Missing...
One teaser, one trailer, and still no sight of Scott Mes-Kid-Cudi as Ari's new assistant. Also conspicuously absent: Eric's douchey partner Scott Lavin; Shauna the foul-mouthed publicist; and Bow Wow Shad Moss as Eric's one-time former client Charlie.
