Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe has finally decided to take the plunge into TV.
Working alongside Bad Robot and J.J. Abrams, Crowe has created the series Roadies, an ensemble comedy about (you guessed it) a group stagehands and their adventures on a U.S. rock tour. It will be the director's first foray into TV after a career in movies. Maybe those residual checks from We Bought a Zoo aren’t quite cutting it anymore?
Crowe’s next project is a romantic comedy slated for a Christmas release, although for some reason it still does not have a title. What it does have, though, is a strong cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Jay Baruchel, John Krasinski, Bill Murray, Danny McBride, and Alec Baldwin.
Crowe will be directing the pilot for Roadies, then ceding control to Winnie Holzman, who wrote Wicked and created My So-Called Life. In other words, he’s leaving it in good hands.
