In an ordeal that began with an initial disclosure about a month ago, members of a Montgomery, Ala. church have been rocked by the news that not only does their pastor have AIDS, but he then knowingly slept with several members on church grounds.
It all began on September 14, when Reverend Juan Demetrius McFarland confessed to the congregation that he had contracted HIV in 2003 and discovered he had AIDS in 2008. In the subsequent weeks, he confessed to having had sex with church members while knowingly having AIDS and to misusing church funds.
On October 5, he was finally removed from his post. Seems like, given everything, that was probably the right call.
