Intro
We’re psyched for the release of Ghost Recon Future Soldier, which promises to be one of the most engaging and realistic military shooters ever made. If the images you’ve seen thus far seem almost too life-like, there’s good reason. Check out these pics of the actual military equipment, some of it still in the R & D phase, used to develop the game's look and feel. A-TACS and BATLSKIN
A-TACS and BATLSKIN
The ChainSAW is still in the research and development phase, but it's wild to think that the A-TACS camo and Revision BATLSKIN helmet seen in these photos are available now (although probably not at a retailer near you).
Tactical Coordination
Tactical Coordination
Let this blow your mind: one day, allied troop positions, known enemy locations, and even targeting information for firing from remote vehicles will be possible at the individual soldier level through a heads-up display system similar to what's featured in-game.
Rail System
Rail System
The ChainSAW features a rail system that allows it to be upgraded with modular accessories. In Ghost Recon Future Soldier, players are able to add optics, lasers, grenade launchers, and other killer accessories to their weapons, fine-tuning them for each mission.
All Over Camo
All Over Camo
The A-TACS AU "all over" camo can be applied to any hard or soft surface. Ghost Recon Future Soldier takes this concept one step further, employing "active camo" that allows light to be "bent" around the soldier. Basically, we're talking invisibility here—not available yet in the real world, but pretty bad-ass in-game.
Ultimate Agility
Ultimate Agility
Removing the shoulder mount on a weapon like this allows the soldier to more easily shift his center of balance when moving, allowing him to fire while changing positions—typically a time of high vulnerability. With this mobility in mind, Ghost Recon Future Soldier enables players to perform high-speed "cover swaps," in which they rush to the next logical cover obstacle with the push of a button.
The ChainSAW Light
The ChainSAW Light
What you see here is the ChainSAW Light Machinegun, which takes a weapon that would typically be shoulder-mounted and allows it be fired without sighting down the barrel. How, you ask? The weapon is linked to a mounted camera and heads-up display monocle that create an ‘overlay’ on top of the battlefield—much like the Augmented Reality display seen in the game. All we can say is... wow.
