Hot Ones and Messenger "call-iday" experience

Not going home for the holidays? You can still have a festive—and spicy!—video “call-iday,” thanks to Messenger.

Hot Ones and Messenger have joined forces to bring the original Truth or Dab card game to life through Group Effects, an interactive AR video calling technology. It’s the hottest way to stay connected to friends, family, or virtual pen pals this holiday season!

Ready to take the virtual hot seat? Here’s how it works. Players will be asked a revealing question from a virtual deck of cards. Tilt your head to the left to tell the truth, and the group effect will pull a new card from the deck for the next player. Can’t confess? Tilt your head to the right to dab, and watch your heat meter rise. The first player to reach peak heat loses…or wins. We’ll let you decide.

To play the Hot Ones Truth or Dab AR experience, head to your Instagram or open your Messenger app, start a video call, tap the smiley face to open the effects tray, and select Group Effects. The group effect allows you to heat up your video call with up to four players.

Stay connected, stay spicy, win the holidays. Start a video call on Instagram or Messenger to try the Hot Ones Truth or Dab Group Effect with your crew.
