According to CBS CEO Les Moonves, Steve Jobs approached him about a year ago about a potential subscription content service for Apple’s “iTV.” Moonves admitted rebuffing Jobs’ offer at the time, denying Apple’s long-rumored device content from America’s most popular TV channel.
“I told Steve, “You know more than me about 99 percent of things but I know more about the television business,” said Moonves at the UCLA Entertainment Symposium this past weekend.
To Moonves’ credit, CBS has had little competition for its TV crown since he became CEO in 2004. Staid programming the likes of “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” and “Mike & Molly” have been the channel’s hallmark, but with it, great ratings.
