James Marsden Tapped to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Movie

The film is slated to hit theaters in November 2019.

From Westworld to Sonic’s World.

According to an exclusive Variety report, actor James Marsden has been tapped to star in Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog project; however, the details of his role have not been revealed.

Marsden is the current star of HBO’s hit Sci-fi western series Westworld, and has starred in films such as X-Men, Enchanted, and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

The forthcoming Sonic film, described as a live action-animation hybrid, will mark the first time the beloved video game character will be the focus of a full-length feature film. (Though he did make a cameo in 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph.) As previously reported, the Sonic the Hedgehog project will be produced by Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons, and executive produced by Toby Ascher and Deadpool director Tim Miller. Filmmaker Jeff Fowler has signed on to direct.

“Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts,” Miller said, per THR. “The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”

Sonic the Hedgehog is slated to hit theaters Nov. 15, 2019.

Keep it locked as more details about the movie become available.
