TMZ reported back in March that actor Columbus Short, best known for roles as DJ in Stomp the Yard and Harrison Wright on Scandal, straight knocked a dude unconscious during a bar fight in Los Angeles.

At the time, a witness told TMZ that Short allegedly broke the man's nose and left him unconscious for several minutes.

Short went on the radio today and explained that he had to fight the guy because he was being "highly disrespectful" and slapping Short's wife in the face with $20 bills. Short also explained that the man is his "nephew's uncle." Take a second to wrap your head around that.

Short has been accused of violence before. In 2010 he allegedly punched a guy and knocked out his teeth while playing basketball at a gym, and last week he was arrested for public intoxication after an alleged fight with a bouncer in Dallas, Texas.
