The big event on The Event? It's cancellation! (Sorry.) NBC announced on Friday that the show would not return for a second season in the fall.
Not that this should surprise fans (those of you that were left): following a big burst upon its debut ("It's Lost plus 24!"), ratings for The Event cooled quickly, and the convoluted plot never took off. A reboot was attempted this spring, but by that time no one seemed to notice nor care.
Like Invasion and Heroes before it, The Event is the latest Lost copycat to wind up on that big island in the sky.
