At the start of this season of Saturday Night Live, Cecily Strong was demoted from her post as a "Weekend Update" host. She was replaced by Michael Che, but remained a part of the cast. Being demoted is one (painful) thing for Strong, but being left out of the "Weekend Update" montage that aired during the 40th anniversary special was a bit of a spit in the wound.
Strong is in tonight's program as a sketch actress. But this is more of an oversight than being a forgotten actor in an "in memoriam" award show tributes. Because Strong isn't dead. She's alive. In the studio. Being swept out of that closet of television history.
But, at least she's got another hosting gig lined-up: Strong will host the White House Correspondents' Dinner on February 25.
