New York City is a food town. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

What makes New York such a great place for foodies is that they can enjoy a delicious meal at a five-star restaurant and an even better meal right on the corner from a street vendor. But being a New York street vendor is no easy task. It takes grit, consistency and perseverance. Most importantly, your food must be tasty and always authentic.

The enduring spirit of street vendors also rings true with Modelo. The Mexican beer has been beloved by many for years and has often been the drink of choice for everything from relaxing at the end of the day to celebrating a big moment. Understanding what it takes to make it and succeed is just one of many commonalities Modelo and street vendors share.

To highlight the beauty and entrepreneurial spirit of these small-business owners, Complex teamed up with Modelo for a multi-part video series covering three Hispanic street vendors. The documentary follows Herlinda Gonzales and Luis Barrera located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and Breisy Maria Peña from The Bronx, as they get to work and sell their cuisine on the City’s streets.

These self-starters took their love for food and culture and created businesses for themselves and their communities on their terms. Check out the videos to see how it all came together for each of them.
