If you’re like us, you’re excited for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ to kick off tomorrow, July 20. And whether you’re a hardcore soccer fan or a bit more casual, much of that excitement probably stems from the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour ‘Going Beyond’ campaign, which just wrapped up in New Zealand last Friday, July 15.
The FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour hosted a total of 180 events in three phases spread across 32 countries, attracting fans, veteran World Cup stars, and a variety of influencers, including campaign ambassador and Female Freestyle Football World Champion, Lia Lewis. At each event, fans got the chance to get up close and personal with the Original Trophy while also partaking in various skills competitions and festivities.
The first phase of the tour visited iconic locations inside the host nations of New Zealand and Australia, capturing content and drumming up excitement for what was to follow. Phase two of the tour, dubbed The International Tour, visited all 30 qualifying countries, while phase three checked in on the nine FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ Host Cities. The Tour visited over 30 schools, youth football clubs, and grassroots football events. (Can you imagine the Trophy showing up at your soccer practice?) The Trophy was also the centerpiece of 25 prestigious panels across the world, where notable women and leaders discussed football, development, equality, and more.
Throughout the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour, world-class soccer stars representing each nation to ever win the FWWC swung by to hold the Trophy, including Briana Scurry, Aya Miyama, Babett Peter, Kristine Lilly, Carli Lloyd and more.
In addition to those soccer superstars, political figures, the president of Brazil, youth players from across the globe, TV presenters from Telemundo and Fox, the FIFA president, and the FIFA secretary general, the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour attracted influencers galore. Brazilian influencer Casemiro stopped by, as did Aleandra Frerk from Germany and social media star, Lia Lewis of England. Lewis even put her footwork to werk—creating instructional TikTok videos to celebrate the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour while explaining the fundamentals of her craft.
