During an event at a YMCA in West London, Prince Harry offered up his opinion on both social media and Fortnite. While his comments on social media, which he says is "more addictive than alcohol and drugs," according to the BBC, are nothing new, what he said about Epic Games' unstoppable battle royale game has got some people upset.

"A game like Fortnite, for instance, may not be so good for children," the Duke of Sussex said. "Parents have got their hands up, they don’t know what to do about it. It’s like waiting for the damage to be done and kids turning up on your doorsteps and families being broken." While there's probably some truth to his comments when considering just how much time people invest in the free-to-play game, another part of what he said is a bit more extreme. "That game shouldn't be allowed," he added. "It's created to addict, an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It's so irresponsible."

The structure of the Battle Pass players can purchase to earn new skins and dance moves incentivizes extended playtime, but his suggestion that Fortnite "shouldn't be allowed" hasn't exactly been met with a great response.

On the one hand, he's right about parents needing to be more involved.

On the other hand, he's an authoritarian ass who thinks banning a video game because it's "so addictive" is a good idea.

Yeah well, maybe we should ban the monarchy.

For what it's worth, Fortnite made an astonishing $2.4 billion in 2018.
