It’s time for your next superhero obsession.

HBO Max has just unveiled a new teaser for the John Cena-starring series Peacemaker, a show that follows the origins of Cena’s character from James Gunn’s 2021 The Suicide Squad movie. Check it out up top.

The upcoming series, which is written and directed by Gunn and produced by Peter Safran, arrives on Jan. 13 and stars Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.

Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the series and directed five, while Cena is co-executive producer alongside Gunn, Safran, and Matt Miller.

The trailer sees Cena’s character being kept out of prison after agreeing to complete various missions, and things get pretty comical.

“Are you sure those two kids came out of those parents,” Cena asks when seeing a photo of a senator. “That’s an attractive couple, that one came out of them but the other one looks like a butt baby. My older brother told me there’s two types of babies: One that comes out normal and then butt babies. Worse in every way, they come out of a woman’s butt.”

With intense fight scenes, some comedic breaks, and Cena’s likability all shown in the clip, the teaser can be seen above.

“We learn a lot about other characters, but I felt with Peacemaker, we really just scratched the surface of who this guy is, what makes this douchebag tick,” Gunn said in a recent interview with Complex about his Suicide Squad character. “I called up John immediately and I said, ‘Hey, do you want to do this thing?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’”
