A Fresh Prince favorite is making a return to Bel-Air.
Janet Hubert, who played the original Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is set to make an appearance on the upcoming fourth season of Peacock’s Bel-Air.
According to Deadline, who first reported the story on Monday October 27, Hubert will play “a wise woman whom Hilary (Coco Jones) meets, and who becomes instrumental to the Banks family.”
This marks a grand return to the Bel-Air universe for Hubert. As fans know, she played the original Aunt Viv for the first three seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air before being replaced with Daphne Maxwell Reid after a public falling out with Will Smith, who played the title character in the original iteration. Smith and Hubert later reconciled in a 2020 reunion special that streamed on HBO Max.
Hubert will mark the sixth actor from the OG series to make an appearance on Bel-Air. Reid appeared as a woman named Helen in a Season 1 episode, and in that same episode, Vernee Watson-Johnson — who played Will’s mother Vy Smith on Fresh Prince — played a woman named Janice. Tatyana Ali, who originally played Ashley Banks, portrayed middle school teacher, Mrs. Hughes, in Season 2. In Season 3, Joseph Marcell, who originally played Geoffrey portrayed someone from Bel Air Geoffrey’s past.
Also set to appear in Season 4 Caroline Chikezie, who also stars on Power Book II: Ghost. Chikezie will play a woman named Dominique Warren, “the leader of Geoffrey’s (Jimmy Akingbola) former London gang,” per Deadline. Tyra Banks was also previously reported to have joined the Season 4 cast, and will play an old friend of Vivian (April Parker Jones).
The fourth and final season of Bel-Air is set to stream on Peacock beginning Monday, Nov. 24.
