Sam Lloyd, the actor famous for his role as lawyer Ted Buckland on Scrubs, has died at the age of 56, Variety reports.
Lloyd was diagnosed in January 2019 with an inoperable brain tumor. It was later revealed to be metastatic lung cancer, which had spread to his liver, jaw, and spine. Scrubs producer Tim Hobert and his wife launched a GoFundMe to help Lloyd cover his medical bills. Lloyd’s cancer battle started just weeks after he and his wife Vanessa welcomed their first child Weston.
Following the news of Lloyd’s death, Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and co-stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Robert Maschio shared their thoughts in the wake of their friend’s passing.
Lloyd’s TV acting career, which spans over three decades, started when he appeared on two different episodes as two separate characters on the NBC show Night Court. He made appearances on other notable TV series, such as Desperate Housewives, Shameless, Modern Family, and Seinfeld. Lloyd was also a talented musician, who performed with an a cappella group called The Blanks that appeared a few times on Scrubs under the name The Worthless Peons.
