Quentin Tarantino might be looking to wind down his film career, but that doesn't mean the director won't be busy. The 56-year-old is expecting his first child with wife Daniella Pick. They shared the happy news in a statement to People

"Daniella and Quentin Tarantino are very delighted to announce that they are expecting a baby," they said.

The pair met all the way back in 2009, began dating in 2016 and were married last year. The marriage was a first for both Pick and Tarantino and the baby will be yet another first.

Acclaimed director Tarantino has been all over the news recently with the release of his love letter to New Hollywood-era Los Angeles and the aging stars attempting to navigate it, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. In those interviews, Tarantino has made it clear that he thinks he's coming up on the end of his directorial era. He described his upcoming 10th film as an epilogue for his body of work and said he's likely to hang it up after one more film.

"I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road,” he said in a recent interview with GQ. “I see myself writing books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

He's made it clear that he thinks of Hollywood as a climax for his career. He told GQ that it's the movie he's been building toward his entire life.

“I’ve kind of spent my whole life researching it,” he said. “I’ve spent my whole life knowing this world. So now I can finally do something with everything that I’ve been filling my brain with for the last 56 years.”
