Michelle Rodriguez has come to her Widows co-star Liam Neeson's defense.

During an interview with Vanity Fair at Wednesday's amfAR Gala in New York, Rodriguez advocated on her maligned co-star's behalf by saying that Neeson is not racist because he passionately made out with Viola Davis in Widows. "It’s all fuckin’ bullshit. Liam Neeson is not a racist," she explained. "Dude, have you watched Widows? His tongue was so far down Viola Davis’s throat. You can’t call him a racist ever. Racists don’t make out with the race that they hate, especially in the way he does with his tongue—so deep down her throat. I don’t care how good of an actor you are. It’s all bullshit. Ignore it. He’s not a racist. He’s a loving man. It’s all lies."

Earlier this week, Neeson came under fire after he admitted that he wanted to indiscriminately “unleash physical violence” on a black man after a friend of his was raped years ago by a black man. “I went out deliberately into black areas in the city, looking to be set upon,” he said. “It shocked me and it hurt me ... I did seek help, I went to a priest,” the actor said on Good Morning America, in an attempt to clarify his comments.

In the wake of the controversy, Lionsgate canceled the red carpet event for his upcoming film Cold Pursuit. The actor's scheduled appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Feb. 8 was also called off.
