Unfortunately, NBC has decided against submerging the entireSaturday Night Live set underwater for this weekend's Jason Momoa-hosted episode as a vaguely reasonable nod to Aquaman. Though there are surely certain technological advancements that could have easily made such a feat plausible, the network is instead opting for a traditional land-based episode featuring the musical assistance of Mumford and some undisclosed sons.

Anyway, we're really just here to discuss this just-released SNL teaser clip in which Momoa goes above and beyond while filling in for an NBC page. This going above and beyond nonsense results in Beck Bennett getting decked, the kicking down of Lorne Michaels' door, and some laser-assisted dancing. Catch the full clip up top, as well as another SNL-promoting one below:

Momoa and his Aquaman co-stars, including Amber Heard, have been on the usual press marathon ahead of the DC production's Dec. 21 release date. In a joint interview for Glamour UK, Momoa was asked about the film's intentional "flawed masculine" portrayal of the title character.

"I think it's absolutely important to know yourself, to have a few sensitive moments, to open up instead of being this Martian," he said. "I think that's very important. The part where he's doing it for his family and his friends is a hard part to crack through. I think I can relate to that and probably what helped play the character."

Aquaman launches Dec. 21 and also stars Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Dolph Lundgren.
