Long gone are the days of Steve-O's crazy antics on MTV's now-defunct Jackass and Wildboyz—or are they? The actor and comedian has a new show on YouTube Red called Ultimate Expedition where he and a group of celebrities will climb Peru’s 20,000-foot Mount Tocllaraju.
Yet, Steve-O’s has revealed a different side of himself. As promotion for Ultimate Expedition, he released some behind-the-scenes footage that shows him on the hunt for a street dog to take in—and it’s probably the most friendly we’ve ever seen him.
Upon landing in Peru, Steve buys dog food and goes around the town, trying to feed dogs. No dog bites—literally—until he meets Wendy. After Steve and Wendy part ways and he thinks he won’t ever see the dog again, Wendy finds him later that night and brings her whole squad with her. It is truly a heartwarming moment.
After Steve unsuccessfully tries to sneak Wendy into his hotel, he ends up bathing her and sleeping with her in a tent on the hotel property. He later takes her to the vet and gets her checked out. In the video, we also see footage of Wendy eating Steve’s food on an airplane.
“She’s already got a flight to [Los Angeles], and like that, I’m gonna make her a service animal,” he said. “I think I’m gonna buy her a ticket on every airplane I ever get on and bring her virtually everywhere I go for the rest of her life.”
The merry mountain-climbing band includes UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Chuck Liddell; Finnish stunt performer from the stunt group The Dudesons, Jukka Hilden; and Olympic medalist Gus Kenworthy, among others.
