Cancel your faves. All of them. Every single last fucking one of them. Cut ties now before it's too late. Before your heart is irreparably damaged. Before you find yourself weeping in the fetal position on the bathroom floor at work. Before you have to quit your job in embarrassment and lose your benefits. Before you have to get on Trumpcare. Before you subsequently die. Do you hear me? Save yourself.
I guess we should get into why I'm being so dramatic (which...debatable). The future Aquaman, Jason Momoa, is in the news on this day because of some pretty fucking stupid comments he made years ago, at the 2011 Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con. You can hear them at the top of this page.
At the 0:42 mark, a fan asks Momoa about his attraction to fantasy works like GoT. He provides a series of answers, before ending with the following comment at 1:48: "As far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love the genre. There is so many things you can do. Like, rip someone's tongue out of their throat, and get away with it. And rape beautiful women."
The audience burst into laughter. Raucous laughter. Then, they moved right along to the next question. Tbh, it's incredibly disturbing. But not everyone found it funny. A couple of Momoa's co-panelists and GoT co-stars, Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister, and Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, immediately dropped their heads into their hands.
Understandably, many Momoa fans have now decided to cancel the actor:
I shoulda known Jason Momoa was too fine to be worth a damn. Wow. https://t.co/EmuqEsknzo— king crissle (@crissles) October 12, 2017

Momoa spoke more seriously on the subject of rape during a 2011 interview with the New York Post. When asked about the infamous scene where his character, Khal Drogo, forces himself on Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, Momoa said, "Yeah, I’m raping [Daenerys]. I love her, but I'm hurting her and she's crying. We could have made it longer, but you get the idea. I'm not a rapist. I prefer my women to enjoy sex."
With all of the shit coming out now—about Harvey Weinstein, allegedly Nelly, and other unnamed execs alluded to by new accusers like Terry Crews and James Van Der Beek—people in positions of power need to be very fucking careful with how they move, and with the words they allow to come out of their mouths. In the words of the all-knowing Patron Saint Gucci Mane La Flare: everybody looking.
