Marion Cotillard has spoken out against the rumors piling up of an alleged affair with her Allied co-star Brad Pitt, who is now in the middle of divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie. According to Cotillard, responding to such rumors or even "taking them seriously" is not something she's accustomed to doing. However, as the rumor factory has now started impacting people she loves, the award-winning actress felt compelled to set the record straight once and for all.

"I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up," Cotillard wrote Wednesday on Instagram. Noting this would be her "first and only reaction" to news of Pitt and Jolie's split, Cotillard detailed how she met her actual significant other and kept it brief but firm when calling out the rumor starters:

"Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you," Cotillard said. "This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery." Cotillard also wished "peace" for both Pitt and Jolie as they bring their union to a close.

Following news of Jolie's decision to file for divorce from Pitt, Page Six hit a mourning nation with the very Page Six-y allegation of an affair between the Allied co-stars, thus kicking rumor spreaders into a frenzy. "[Jolie] hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was," an unnamed source claimed to the publication Tuesday. "That was the final straw."
