Sometimes girls just wanna have fun. However, this Brazilian ex-mayor took that saying to a new level and is now wanted by authorities. 25-year-old Lidiane Leite is facing charges of corruption after an investigation revealed roughly $4 million missing in government funds. That’s a huge chunk of change when you’re the mayor of Bom Jardim, one of the most impoverished regions in the country.
To make matters worse, she bragged about her new lifestyle on Instagram and is said to have run the town 150 miles away through WhatsApp, a cell phone app. "She started flaunting a luxurious lifestyle that her salary couldn't afford,” Max Ribeiro, a Federal Police delegate from Maranhao, told CNN. "She was traveling, doing plastic surgeries, and buying expensive cars.”
Leite was officially booted from office on Sunday, after abandoning her post for 10 days. Her boyfriend at the time, Beto Rocha, is already in custody for taking part in the scheme. He ran for mayor three years ago but was disqualified after accusations of corruption.
With all eyes on Leite, it’s only a matter of time before she gets caught. "She is the most wanted person in Maranhao now,” Ribeiro added. “She can't hide for much longer."
