Donald Trump wasted zero time making himself the odd man out and getting booed at the first GOP debate on Fox News. Before the debate even really began, the Fox moderators asked any candidates who were unwilling to rule out running as an independent to raise their hand.
The top 10 polling GOP candidates were on stage, but only one hand went up: The Donald. Then came a huge chorus of boos. Aaand we're off.
Of course, they had to ask Trump about immigration after those comments where he said Mexican immigrants were rapists.
First, he somehow took full credit for even making immigration an issue (despite it being a constant topic in the news for about the last 30 years).
"So, if it weren’t for me you wouldn’t even be talking about illegal immigration, Chris. You wouldn’t even be talking about it. This was not a subject that was on anybody’s mind until I brought it up at my announcement,” Trump said.
Then he blamed lying reporters for misreporting those rapist comments.
“And I said ‘Mexico is sending.’ Except the reporters, because they’re a very dishonest lot generally speaking in the world of politics, they didn’t cover my statement the way I said it. The fact is since then many killings, murders, crime, drugs pouring across the border, our money going out and the drugs coming in."
And most importantly perhaps, we need a wall "to keep the illegals out," he said.
"We need to build a wall. And it has to be built quickly. And I don’t mind having a big beautiful door in that wall so that people can come into this country legally.”
But what actual evidence do you have, Mr. Trump, that the Mexican government is sending criminals here?
"I was at the border last week, they say 'this is what's happening because our leaders are stupid. Politicians are stupid. The Mexican government is much smarter, much more cunning…”
Oh, so some dude down by the border told you one time... That's your source? OK, man. But if you're such a financial genius, why have you declared bankruptcy so many times?
Alright, let's get to the good part:
And then Trump threatened to not be so nice to Megyn Kelly anymore, which we're sure really worried her.
