To quote Homer's pal Lenny from The Simpsons, when it comes to food: "The eyes taste first, then lips, then palette. Then the body's harshest critic -- the colon."
But let's get back to the eyes. A huge part of high end dining is the presentation, and the higher end you get, the more over the top the presentation tends to get. That's where Instagram user @chefjacqueslamerde comes in. He's taking the lowest of low end food and, through insanely fine tweaking, presenting it like the type of meals that cost your entire paycheck.
In doing so, he's shitting on the whole snobbery of gourmet food. Or not. Who knows, it's hard to know exactly what he's getting at, but it's easy to enjoy the beauty, and the beautiful irony, of it (and the really weird chef character he's created in the captions).
