Chicago experienced another violent weekend, as four people were killed and at least 40 were shot.
According to the Chicago Tribune, 11-year-old Shamiya Adams was among the fatalities, passing away on Saturday after being struck in the head by a stray bullet during a sleepover at her best friend's house Friday night. NBC Chicago reports that other victims include a 30-year-old man who was shot and killed in a vehicle on Saturday, a 21-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body while entering a cab on Saturday evening, and a 24-year-old man who was shot and killed early Sunday morning in the city's Brighton Park section.
This comes after a violent Fourth of July weekend in Chicago where 82 people were shot and 14 were killed.
