Editions: 4 Diablo (1996), Diablo: Hellfire (1997), Diablo II (2000), Diablo III (2012)
If you're going to name your game Diablo, it has to pack in an enormous amount of awesome to back it up. Sure enough, Blizzard was able to do it. No gamer could ever forget the frightening cover of the the original and sequel but fear was the farthest thing from anyone's mind when Diablo III launched 12 years later. The hype surrounding the latest release led to Blizzard's servers getting hammered by users and getting knocked offline. This led to the now infamous "error 37" meme the following day. Internet jokes aside, the Diablo franchise have all sold millions of copies and Diablo II secured a spot in the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest selling game in history at the time. Blizzard had a repeat performance with Diablo III doing the same in 2012, selling over 3.4 million copies in 24 hours.
