9. Superbad (2007)
Chances of getting laid (1-10): 10. Fantastic! As evidenced by Fogell. You might not get to round third base (and she might even puke), but at least she’s in your bed!
The drink situation (1-10): 8. Beer and lots of the hard stuff, preferably in large laundry detergent bottles.
Chances of police interference (1-10): 10. The cops come busting in, but these guys are so inept, it doesn’t really matter. Party on!
How’s the music? (1-10): 6. The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa” makes up for a mostly bland, forgettable soundtrack.
Greg Mottola’s 2007 comedy Superbad quickly became a critical and commercial hit and catapulted its stars (Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse) into a whole new level of stardom. Not to mention that it introduced the world to the absolutely adorable Emma Stone.
The film’s party really starts when “McLovin” tries to buy alcohol and is introduced to the two bumbling cops played by Seth Rogen and Bill Hader. Then it’s onto smuggling alcohol in large laundry detergent bottles, bloody dance-floor grinding, head butts, black eyes, and failed sexual encounters.
Superbad is a hell of a fun film, but it’s also got its heart in the right place. It’s a buddy film masquerading as a wild party flick, and that’s why we love it. Plus, who couldn’t love McLovin?
