Hunch, the brainy, ambitious recommendation engine founded by Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake and a gang of MIT grads, has just been acquired by eBay for a rumored $80 million.

The site provides recommendations for users by drawing from their broad online footprint (Facebook, Twitter, Netflix etc.) as well as answers to the site's own custom survey.

Hunch is the latest acquisition for the deep-pocketed eBay, which also purchased the mobile payments company Zong for a reported $240 million over the summer.
